Since then, he has mostly been faithful to the Google phone lineup, though these days, he is also carrying an iPhone in addition to his Pixel phone. After his HTC One S refused to connect to mobile internet despite three warranty repairs, he quickly switched to a Nexus 4, which he considers his true first Android phone. Manuel's first steps into the Android world were plagued by issues. He isn't shy to dig into technical backgrounds and the nitty-gritty developer details, either. Manuel studied Media and Culture studies in Düsseldorf, finishing his university career with a master's thesis titled "The Aesthetics of Tech YouTube Channels: Production of Proximity and Authenticity." His background gives him a unique perspective on the ever-evolving world of technology and its implications on society. He has been covering tech news and reviewing devices since joining Android Police as a news writer in 2019. Manuel Vonau is Android Police's Google Editor, with expertise in Android, Chrome, and other Google products - the very core of Android Police’s content. This spoofing approach would be the only way to stream GeForce Now games on Linux, as Nvidia doesn't offer a dedicated Linux application for GeForce Now. We haven't tested this method on Linux just yet, but the workflow shouldn't be any different. And since streaming already works so well with the spoofed user agent, I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia eventually decides to make its service officially available through browsers, just like Stadia. It's a new platform and audience that we're excited about reaching and giving them the power to play PC games." Unfortunately, that doesn't sound like official support is high on the company's priority list, but it also doesn't seem like there's any catch or known problem that would hinder you from enjoying your in-browser gaming session via the described method. Since the code is available for anyone to look at and modify, Intel and AMD graphics work better with newer changes in the Linux ecosystem, like the emerging Wayland display server. When we asked Nvidia if we could expect an official launch of in-browser game streaming outside of Chrome OS, we received the following statement: "We're focused on Chromebook. The end result is that if you have a gaming PC with a Radeon GPU, or a laptop with Intel Xe graphics, everything just works on Linux. Intel and AMD both maintain open-source graphics drivers for their products, which can then be included in the standard Linux kernel. So, why is this a big deal? Well, Nvidia graphics cards have never worked well with Linux PCs. GeForce and Workstation users can use this driver on NVIDIA Turing and NVIDIA Ampere Architecture GPUs to run Linux desktops and use features such as multiple displays, G-SYNC, and NVIDIA RTX ray tracing in Vulkan and NVIDIA OptiX." Why Open-Source Matters Nvidia said in its blog post, "In this open-source release, support for GeForce and Workstation GPUs is alpha-quality. Canonical (developers of Ubuntu Linux), SUSE, and Red Hat (developers of Fedora Linux) applauded Nvidia's decision to finally open-source its Linux graphics drivers. In other words, anyone can now look through Nvidia's code, and developers can submit fixes and new features to improve the drivers. Nvidia announced on Wednesday that it has published its Linux graphics kernel modules as open-source software, under a dual GPL/MIT license.
